A blogger, single mother of four, political activist, and my friend needs your help.
Jenn Studebaker, a native of Austin, TX, fell into extreme poverty in 2010 when she suddenly found herself alone to raise her four small children; one of which was a newborn. She reached out and applied for government assistance and used the help to go back to school and reenter the workforce. She didn’t forget the social bias and the hatred towards the needy, and now spends most of her energy working for social and labor issues.
From afar, I witnessed her troubles through social media, and I had the pleasure to witness her Phoenix-like rise from the depths of despair and poverty. I’m proud to see that she is willing to work tirelessly to empower others to do the same.
Jenn Studebaker is currently vying for a scholarship to attend the Netroots Nation 2013 conference in San Jose, California. Sponsored by Democracy for America, the Netroots Nation Scholarship Program “is designed to send the movement’s best and brightest to the biggest Progressive Conference of the year.” They are selecting the top 5 applicants for the scholarship and Jenn is currently in 9th place.
