The other night, I was watching a new episode of “Law and Order” and about half-way through the program, I figured out how it ended! It was really cool to watch it play out and see how the writers revealed who the real killer was. Has this ever happened to you? Or have you ever said, “I could write better than that!”
Well, here’s your chance!
There is more to being a writer than churning out novels from your stately home in Maine. The field of writing has many niches that most can find their style of writing will find a home. Among the poets, philosophers, novelists, biographers and historians there is another oft forgotten genre of writing.
The Script Writer.
The script writer functions in several forms of media. As a playwright, on the radio and on television he uses his story telling skills to reach an audience like the novelist. Do you have a story to tell?
Maybe you are already a script writer, but you don’t have a community of like minded people to share your work with. To improve your story through mutual submissions and critiques.
At the Internet Writing Workshop, you can subscribe to the Script Writing List. Here you can submit your work through email for other writers to view and help it become better for a market. There is also a chance for you to see other scripts and offer your comments and suggestions for the other writers.
This is a great community, with great people who are also great writers. I have been a member of the Internet Writing Workshop for more than a year and I can honestly say that I owe all of my accomplishments to generous people in this community.
If you remember the recent Writer’s Guild Strike, you’ll also remember that since the strike our television programming has been inundated with reality television programs. These programs are a threat to the art of writing. Let’s stop this nonsense and become the next generation of script writers!
I hope to see you there!
